My culinary love affair with Morocco began in the summer 2009. I had been traveling solo through West Africa and was ending my trip with two weeks in the seaside town of Essaouira on the Atlantic coast. At the beginning of this trip I met my would-be-husband. With him I explored hidden local restaurants, ate fresh grilled sardines, dipped hot bread into fava bean puree topped with olive oil, and sipped tomato and lentil soup in between bites of honey drenched sweets.

I moved to Morocco from New York in the summer of 2010 and began a long study of Moroccan home-cooking with my soon to be mother-in-law. Through her I learned the proper way to steam couscous, how to clean cardoons for a meat tagine, how to wrap sheep's liver in thin layers of fat before grilling it with cumin and salt on Eid El Kabir, and how to fold delicate pastry around a filling of shrimp, tomato and vermicelli for a seafood pastilla.

In 2013 I created Feast With Your Hands and began working as a personal chef doing exclusively Moroccan and Moroccan inspired cooking. I also organized my first culinary retreat as a way to share my love of Morocco.
